Simon Sinek (2011)
I first came across Simon Sinek when I watched his TED Talk (which I would highly recommend).
In his talk and now in this book he sets out to explain why successful businesses and leaders are successful at what they do. Using a variety of case studies and examples, ranging from Apple to Shackleton, he concludes that the common factor is that they all start with “Why”. They are clear about their sense of purpose and communicate it well – telling us why they do what they do, rather than just the what.
Sinek’s simple formula can be easily applied to leadership, sales & marketing, pitches, recruitment, presentations and press releases. The applications are virtually endless – he even applies the formula to dating!
Definitely a must for those who want to communicate their message more effectively.
