Book Review: Mind Games: Inspirational Lessons from the World’s Finest Sports Stars

Jeff Grout & Sarah Perrin (2004)

This book explores many of the theories and strategies found in a lot of self-help and popular psychology books such as mental rehearsal, goal setting, resilience, positive mental attitude, beliefs, state management and anchoring.

The difference here is that the authors have interviewed many sports stars such as Matthew Pinsent, Ellen MacArthur, Nick Faldo, Sir Clive Woodward, Sally Gunnell, Jonny Wilkinson and roger Black.  They reveal how the techniques have enabled them to become champions in their fields.

With the evidence of how these ways of thinking and behaving affect performance it is relatively simple to apply these lessons to any area of your life where having a winning mindset would be useful.
